"Mercury" is the new recording by Juan Antonio Nieto, spanish sound artist known by his work under the moniker Pangea.

Mercury is an album in which the sounds used (improvisations with percussion metal plates and storms field recordings) work into a differentain perspective on dark ambient. Pangea haven't used melodies or ornaments to make the listener more "friendly". It is the transformed sounds that sustain the album and need attentive ears to be enjoyed.

Juan Antonio Nieto, spanish sound artist, published his records on labels as Trente Oiseaux, Mandorla, Experimedia, Moozak, Impulsive Habitat, Idiosyncratics, Test Tube, A.M.P., Luscinia, among others. He's curator in the Sonic Resistence Group (GRS Madrid), in Acufenos Fest and in Latimeria events. He has collaborated with Kenji Siratori, Maria Chavez, Igor Jovanovic, Laura Focarazzo (this collab won the award of the “Diario de Levante” Incubarte Festival Valencia 2012), Leo Alves Vieira, Chris Silver T, Luis Marte, Jorge Haro, Kris Limbach, el dúo Oikos, Miguel Angel Garcia, David Velez, Meryll Ampe, Metek, Martijn Comes e Javier Piñango. His music has been included in art installations at Circulo de Bellas Artes (Madrid), Cultural Center of Spain and Fuga Lab festival (Buenos Aires), Moozak Festival (Vienna) and Abstract Cinema Festival (Rome), among many others. In 2012 the spanish Radio Nacional (radio clasica Ars Sonora) has broadcast a Monographic program about his works. Juan Antonio Nieto is also member of the Hypermodern Group, a free improvisation ensemble that include musicians as Frank Vigroux, Le Quan Ninh and Hank Bennink; and sometimes has played with LOM (La Orquesta Mundana).
